Chapter 159
Evelyn stared at her phone screen for a few seconds before tapping lightly to block the number.
She would settle this score after dealing with Scorpion.
A full week passed without any trace of Scorpion. It was as if he had vanished into thin air. But Evelyn knew the madman was watching from the shadows, waiting for his next opportunity.
Her fists clenched, nails digging into her palms.
No more playing defense. It was time to strike first.
Dr. Howard held the medical report with an expression of disbelief.
"Mr. Sullivan, your recovery speed is nothing short of miraculous! At this rate, you'll be walking normally by next week."
Ethan responded with a faint hum, his eyes devoid of emotion.
After Dr. Howard left, he dialed Colin's number.
"Prepare a divorce agreement. Deliver it tonight."
Night fell. The moment Evelyn stepped into the living room, a document was thrust into her hands.
"Sign it."
Her pupils contracted at the words "Divorce Agreement."
"You—"
"I've already signed." Ethan's voice was icy. "The paperwork will be finalized within a week after notarization."
Her throat tightened. Her fingers absently traced the edge of the paper.
Their time together had made her waver on the divorce she once insisted on. But reason told her that repeating past mistakes would only bring more pain.
The pen scratched against the paper with a soft rustle.
"Mail me the divorce certificate."
"Fine."
"I'll move out this weekend."
Ethan turned toward the door. "No need. The villa has been transferred to your name."
The sound of the door closing echoed sharply through the silent house.
Evelyn stood before her easel, surrounded by discarded sketches. Frustrated, she threw down her brush and went to the kitchen for water.
The sound of rolling luggage came from the living room.
Colin froze when he saw her. "Ms. Sullivan, Mr. Sullivan sent me to collect some clothes."
"Mm."
"He's waiting in the car. I'll be going now."
The glass grew cold in her hands. Evelyn stared at the empty foyer, her chest heavy as if weighed down by stone.
Outside, Colin stuffed the empty suitcase into the trunk before hesitating. "Mr. Sullivan, are you sure about this?"
Ethan ran his fingers over the fresh signature on the divorce papers, his gaze dark.
"Only by letting her think it's over can we truly start again."
If she believed their marriage had reached its end, he would play along.
And then he would make her fall in love with him all over again.
