Chapter 129

Vanessa Cruz clapped a trembling hand over her mouth.

"You...you're serious?!"

She never imagined Evelyn Sullivan had married Ethan Sullivan.

"Who said they wouldn't be surprised?" Evelyn chuckled.

Vanessa fell silent.

"Stop staring," Evelyn casually flicked through the gowns on the rack. "We're divorcing soon. Free money is free money."

Vanessa hesitated before pulling out a silver-gray mermaid dress.

The boutique fell into stunned silence when the fitting room curtain opened.

Evelyn strode toward Ethan in stilettos, the slit in her skirt revealing glimpses of porcelain thighs. The plunging neckline accentuated her curves, while the cutout waistline added dangerous allure.

"Well?"

Ethan's pupils contracted.

"Change." His voice tightened.

She twirled, sending silver-gray ripples across the skirt. "I like it."

"I said, change."

After five rejected gowns, they settled on a sapphire blue cheongsam. The teardrop neckline framed her collarbones perfectly, while embroidered patterns shimmered under the lights.

"This one." Ethan's Adam's apple bobbed.

While Evelyn selected shoes, he slapped a black card on the counter. "Wrap everything she tried."

Vanessa gasped—those dresses cost more than a luxury penthouse!

"Mr. Sullivan," she glanced nervously at Evelyn, "I heard you two were..."

Ethan cut her off. "I'd like to hire Elia as my personal designer."

Vanessa nearly dropped the POS machine.

"Apologies. Elia doesn't take private commissions."

A gilded business card slid toward her.

"Call me anytime."

During the drive to the White residence, Evelyn noticed Colin's absence.

"He went back to the office for something," Ethan said without turning.

As the Maybach parked, Evelyn reached for the door—only to be yanked back onto the seat. Heat from his palm seared through her dress, making her heart skip.

"Wait for Colin."

Twenty minutes later, a breathless Colin handed over a velvet box.

When the lid sprang open, Evelyn's breath caught—

Angel's Tears glowed blood-red in the twilight.
