Chapter 120

The White family had always been notorious in Rongcheng's business circles for their ruthless tactics. Even as a second-tier family, few dared to cross them.

"Have you forgotten who's backing her? Just the name Ethan Sullivan is enough for her to get away with murder in Rongcheng. Watch your tongue next time unless you want trouble."

"Mrs. Farley, that look on your face... Don't tell me you haven't heard about Mrs. White being taken away by the police? It happened half an hour ago—they arrested her right in the middle of our mahjong game!"

Victoria Farley's face turned ashen. With trembling hands, she pulled out her phone and dialed William Sullivan.

"William, Evelyn—"

"Shut up!" William's furious roar cut her off. "I don't have time for your nonsense right now. Tell that ungrateful wretch to get her ass home immediately!"

The dial tone echoed in her ear. Victoria shook with rage.

First, Evelyn had humiliated her in public. Now she'd called the police on Lily White's mother. Was this daughter of hers trying to start a rebellion?

Meanwhile, at the villa, Evelyn Sullivan was having dinner with Ethan.

After the meal, Dr. Evan arrived punctually for Ethan's treatment.

As she walked him out, his stern demeanor melted away. He winked at her. "Not bad acting, huh?"

Evelyn nodded solemnly. "If you'd put half this effort into medicine, you'd be world-famous by now."

Dr. Evan scowled playfully. "Remember who's helping you here. Push me too far and—"

His threat died on his lips when he spotted the porcelain vial in her hand.

"Antidote Pill?! Where the hell did you get this?"

"Little Lily gave it to me before I left."

Dr. Evan clutched his chest in exaggerated despair. "The old man always plays favorites!"

Evelyn snorted. "Cut the act. He sent an entire crate of ancient medical texts for you."

Caught, he grinned sheepishly. "No fun... So why show me this now?"

"Your payment."

"Seriously?!" He snatched the vial, his mood shifting instantly. "Don't worry,师妹. Ethan's legs are in good hands!"

"Still thinking of bailing?"

Dr. Evan straightened with mock solemnity. "A doctor's compassion knows no bounds. I'll give it my all!"

After seeing him off, Evelyn returned to the bedroom to find Ethan struggling to walk with crutches, sweat beading on his forehead.

She rushed to support him. "We agreed you'd wait for more acupuncture sessions before rehab! You're making the injury worse!"

He let her guide him to sit, his voice low. "I thought... you'd want me to recover faster."

Her hands stilled as she tucked the blanket around him. "I do want you healed. But not at the cost of your health. This injury is worse than three years ago. It needs more time."
