Chapter 198

Lucas Laurier had just stepped into the restaurant when his gaze was drawn to the table by the window.

Evelyn Sullivan was laughing animatedly with a strange man.

He arched a brow. This woman was like a persistent shadow.

"Mr. Laurier?" his secretary whispered.

Lucas withdrew his gaze and turned toward the reserved private dining room.

In the main hall, Sophia Reynolds checked her watch and suddenly stood. "I just remembered there's an unfinished document at the office. You two enjoy your chat."

Evelyn watched Sophia leave before turning to the man across from her. "Mr. Reynolds, I assume Sophia mentioned my request?"

Sean Reynolds took a sip of tea. "The fake boyfriend arrangement?"

"Exactly."

Evelyn studied the impeccably dressed man. The second son of the Reynolds family, a rising star in real estate—hardly the type to agree to such an absurd proposal.

"Our group is planning to enter the fashion industry," Sean set down his cup. "I hear you're an expert in the field."

Evelyn's eyes brightened. "If you need assistance, I'd be happy to help."

"Pleasure doing business." Sean raised his teacup.

Back at the office, Evelyn had barely settled into her chair when Sophia burst in.

"So? Isn't my brother handsome?"

Evelyn twirled a pen between her fingers. "More agreeable than I expected."

"Of course!" Sophia lifted her chin proudly. "By the way, Mason Young and Jason Zade were fired. No one in the industry will hire them now."

Evelyn scoffed. "They brought it on themselves."

"Ethan Sullivan took over Brocade and invested a billion into it." Sophia lowered her voice. "Do you think he's—"

A phone ring cut her off.

"Ms. Sullivan, we need you to come to the station for a statement."

At the police station, after giving her statement, Evelyn requested to see Yvonne Young.

"A flash drive? What flash drive?" Yvonne's eyes darted nervously, her fingers twisting the hem of her shirt. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Evelyn narrowed her eyes. The reaction was suspicious.

Back at the office, she immediately called a shareholders' meeting.

"Let's relaunch the Fall Collection while the momentum is high." She tapped the table. "This time, nothing can go wrong."
