Chapter 269

Evelyn's gaze was icy, making Ethan's expression darken instantly.

"Evelyn, won't you even give me the most basic trust?"

As the door closed, her voice came through the wood.

"After the divorce, we should be strangers."

Ethan stood motionless for a moment before turning and driving away.

Meanwhile, Isabella received a call from Colin, saying Ethan wanted to see her. Overjoyed, she immediately began getting ready.

"Ethan, you wanted to see me?"

His cold stare pinned her in place. "What's going on with those distributors you signed?"

Her heart skipped a beat, but she forced calm. "Is there a problem?"

"Those same distributors were in talks with MY just days ago!"

Isabella shrugged. "Isn't business competition normal?"

His eyes turned glacial. "Tell me how you found them."

She paled. The contacts had come from an anonymous number, promising easy deals under the Sullivan name. What she thought was luck had backfired spectacularly.

"Someone... sent them to me anonymously..."

Ethan ordered Colin to investigate immediately. This was clearly an attack on MY—and possibly the Sullivans.

An hour later, Colin returned with a report.

"Sir, the trail leads to someone codenamed 'Scorpion.'"

"Background?"

"Former assassin guild member. Now operates independently against his old employers."

Ethan considered this. "Keep digging. Don't tell Evelyn yet."

For the next week, Evelyn was away on business, and their cold war continued.

On her return day, rain poured relentlessly.

Drenched, she reached the villa and spotted Ethan's car parked outside. She pretended not to see it, but footsteps followed as she unlocked the door.

Turning, she found him right behind her.

"Mr. Sullivan, I said—"

Before she could finish, she was yanked into a burning embrace.
