Chapter 288

Evelyn rose on her toes, her slender fingers smoothing the wrinkles from Ethan's tie. A soft smile played on her lips, her eyes shimmering with warmth.

"Your tie was crooked."

Ethan suddenly pulled her close, his arm wrapping around her waist. His deep voice brushed against her ear. "Wait for me."

"Mm."

She watched his car disappear down the driveway before turning back to the house. She didn't notice the vehicle accelerating sharply around the corner.

Inside a private room at the Royal Emperor Club, Isabella pressed herself against Colin, her cheeks flushed. Colin stood rigid, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

"Where's Mr. Sullivan...?"

The door burst open. Ethan's imposing figure appeared in the doorway, and Colin nearly wept with relief.

"Mr. Sullivan!"

Ethan's cold gaze swept over Isabella's dazed state. "The doctor is on the way."

Colin looked miserable, his shirt unbuttoned at the collar.

"The business partners spiked her drink. By the time I realized—"

"Handle it," Ethan cut him off. "Next time, call a doctor immediately."

An hour later, the doctor put away his stethoscope.

"She'll be fine once the drugs wear off."

Ethan turned to leave. Colin hurried after him. "Sir, my phone broke—"

Ethan paused, tossing him a keycard. "Use mine."

After settling Isabella in a room, Colin exhaled in relief. The moment he stepped out of the hotel, Ethan's call came through.

"Find Evelyn."

Meanwhile, Evelyn stood before the largest private room at LoseDemon. She took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

The room fell silent.

A man wearing a demon mask lounged on the sofa, idly tapping his glass.

"Iris, did you like my gift?"

Evelyn met his gaze. "Scorpion, we need to talk."

He chuckled, his eyes glinting coldly behind the mask.

"Talk? You didn't want to talk when you slaughtered twelve of my men."

Her fists clenched. "That was a mission."

"Pity." Scorpion rose slowly. "I don't take missions anymore. Only revenge."

The bodyguards in the room stepped forward in unison. Evelyn narrowed her eyes, her hand subtly moving toward her waist.

"Then only one of us walks out alive tonight."
