Chapter 261

Evelyn's ears burned as she glared at Ethan. "Must you always speak like that? 'Use and discard'? What kind of phrase is that?"

It made her sound like some heartless villain who abandoned people after getting what she wanted.

"Am I wrong?"

Meeting his teasing gaze, Evelyn turned her face away. "Think whatever you want. Just leave."

Another minute alone with him, and she might actually hit him.

Ethan tossed the tissue into the trash with perfect aim before strolling to the bed. He leaned down, murmuring something against her ear.

Evelyn's face flushed crimson. She grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him. "Ethan Sullivan! You—you rogue!"

Her furious reaction only amused him. Chuckling, he easily dodged the flying pillow and stepped back.

Only after the door clicked shut did Evelyn collapse onto the bed, his words still ringing in her ears: My body is for your eyes only.

She pressed her hands to her burning cheeks, taking deep breaths to steady her racing heart.

The sudden ring of her phone made her brow arch.

William Jackson flashed on the screen.

The moment she answered, his suppressed roar blasted through. "Delete that post immediately!"

Evelyn's lips curled coldly. Of course—this was about Isabella again.

"Why should I?"

"Do you have any idea how much damage this has caused Jackson Group? Your sister has admitted her mistake! She'll apologize to you in person tomorrow!"

Her fingers tapped lightly against the bedsheet. "When I was being cyberbullied, why didn't anyone call it a 'family matter' then?"

Silence.

"I was too busy—"

"Too busy to see your own daughter being slandered?" Her voice turned glacial. "But now it's a 'family matter'?"

She hung up before he could respond.

——

In the Jackson mansion, William's face darkened as he slammed his phone onto the table.

"She refused."

Victoria immediately shrieked, "That ungrateful wretch! Isabella is being torn apart online! What more does she want?!"

Isabella wept pitifully. "My career as a designer is ruined..."

Suddenly, she clutched Victoria's arm. "Mom, Ethan promised to fund my design studio!"

With trembling fingers, she dialed the number she knew by heart.
