Chapter 239

"Ms. Sullivan, we have a buyer willing to purchase your villa in full. The contract is ready. Are you available to come sign it now?"

Evelyn Sullivan paused while organizing her files, surprise flickering in her eyes.

"That fast?"

"Yes. The buyer didn’t even negotiate the price—just paid the deposit immediately."

After hanging up, she texted Sophia Reynolds and hurriedly hailed a cab to Grand View Villas.

The agent called three more times during the ride, growing increasingly excited with each call.

"Ms. Sullivan, this buyer is incredibly decisive. They didn’t even check the property deed before agreeing to sign!"

A faint unease settled in Evelyn’s chest.

When she pushed open the villa’s front door and saw the tall figure standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, realization struck.

"Ethan?"

The man turned. His suit was immaculate, his tie perfectly knotted beneath his Adam’s apple.

"Long time no see."

The agent rubbed his hands together. "Oh, you two know each other? Then the contract—"

"Deal’s off."

Evelyn spun on her heel and walked out, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor.

Ethan caught up in a few strides, gripping her wrist.

"Reason?"

"You know why." She yanked her hand free. "You gave me this place in the divorce. Now you want to buy it back? Playing games with me?"

He suddenly leaned in, his warm breath brushing her ear.

"Remember what you said by the pool that night?"

Her ears burned.

"Disgusting!"

"I’m just stating facts." He straightened, his gaze unwavering. "You’ll come back eventually."

"In your dreams!" Her chest heaved with anger. "I’ll list it with another agency tomorrow!"

Ethan adjusted his cuffs leisurely. "Go ahead and try."

Three days later, she finally understood his meaning—every agency she contacted turned her down the next day.

A ringing phone interrupted her thoughts.

"Ms. Elia, we’d like to invite you to the design competition’s award ceremony—"

"Not interested."

Hanging up, she massaged her temples and pushed open Sophia’s office door.

"Hot pot?"

Sophia looked up from her paperwork. "Perfect timing. These reports are driving me insane."

They chose a trendy new hot pot restaurant. The moment they stepped inside, they ran into Alexander King and Lucas Laurier exiting a private room.

Sophia immediately turned to leave, but Alexander had already spotted them.
