Isabella's smile froze on her face.

She sensed the icy aura radiating from Ethan, her fingers trembling involuntarily.

As the private room door clicked shut, his cold gaze lifted to meet hers.

"Sit."

The moment she took her seat, he slid a glass of red wine toward her.

"Congratulations on passing the preliminaries."

Flustered, Isabella picked up the glass, her cheeks flushing pink.

"Thank you for your support, Ethan."

She drained the glass in one gulp, oblivious to the glacial glint in his eyes.

"Did you come here just to watch my competition?"

"No."

The wineglass thudded heavily against the table. Isabella's face paled.

"Then why—"

"I came for Evelyn."

"Why?!"

She shot to her feet, sending her glass shattering across the floor.

"What does she have that I don't?!"

Ethan's lips curled into a humorless smile as he tapped the table with long fingers.

"It seems I've been too lenient with you."

A sudden wave of dizziness hit Isabella. Her legs buckled.

"My promise to you still stands." He strode out without looking back. "But this is Evelyn's justice."

"Someone jumped!"

Colin's face drained of color. "Mr. Sullivan! It's Miss Jackson!"

"Call an ambulance."

As the black Maybach pulled away from the venue, Colin glimpsed Ethan's expressionless profile in the rearview mirror.

This man could lift you to heaven with his tenderness.

"Isabella!"

Victoria rushed to the bedside, her eyes welling at the sight of her daughter's cast-encased leg.

"Who pushed you off that building?"
