Chapter 186

Evelyn Sullivan was utterly baffled. When had she ever provoked Ryan Paisley? She'd merely run into him by chance and asked for directions.

"I came here today to tell you—stop bothering me!" Her voice was icy.

"Are you hungry?"

Ethan Sullivan abruptly changed the subject. Evelyn frowned. "Are you even listening to me?"

"Let's eat first. I haven't had lunch yet."

She took a deep breath, forcing down her anger. "Ethan Sullivan, we're over!"

"Impossible." He set down the documents in his hand and met her gaze. "I don't agree."

Dark currents swirled in his deep eyes. Evelyn instinctively took half a step back.

"Since when do you get a say? You signed the divorce papers faster than anyone!"

"Because..." He stood and closed the distance between them. "I'm courting you again."

Evelyn let out a disbelieving laugh. "Since when did Mr. Sullivan learn to joke?"

"I'm serious."

"Enough!"

She shoved him away. "You've always loved Isabella Jackson. Stop pretending to care now! You're just not used to me ignoring you!"

She turned to leave, but a strong hand yanked her back.

"Let go!"

Ethan effortlessly pinned her to the sofa. "You're not leaving until after lunch."

"Looking at you makes me sick!"

"What a coincidence." His low chuckle sent shivers down her spine. "Looking at you gives me an appetite."

Evelyn trembled with rage. This bastard!

"Eat or not?" He leisurely undid his cufflinks. "If you refuse, you'll stay here and keep me company while I work."

Knowing he meant it, she gritted her teeth and picked up the bowl. She finished the meal in three bites.

"Can I leave now?"

Ethan glanced at the half-eaten rice still in her bowl and arched a brow. "I'm not done yet."

Her nails dug into her palms. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched him calmly eating from the dishes she'd touched. A sharp pang shot through her chest.

In the past, he'd sanitized serving chopsticks three times before using them.
