Chapter 170
Evelyn's cold voice came through the phone. "Get to the point."
William's tone was awkward. "The Sullivan Group is developing the Eastside Project... Could you put in a word for me?"
Evelyn let out a soft laugh. "Do you really think he'd listen to me?"
"You're his wife—"
"Sorry. Can't help."
The call ended abruptly.
William's face darkened instantly. He slammed his phone onto the couch.
Victoria sneered beside him. "I told you she's an ungrateful wretch!"
"We never should have brought her back," William growled through clenched teeth.
Isabella walked in to find her parents sitting stiffly in the living room, their expressions stormy.
"What's wrong?"
Victoria immediately launched into her complaint. "It's that precious sister of yours!"
After hearing the story, Isabella soothed them gently. "Let me try."
Back in her room, Isabella dialed Ethan's number.
The phone rang for a long time before he answered.
"What is it?"
His voice was icy.
Isabella softened her tone. "Ethan, about the Eastside Project—"
"Isabella." Ethan cut her off sharply. "This isn't a game."
The line went dead.
Isabella gripped her phone so tightly her nails dug into her palm.
Sullivan Group CEO Office.
Ethan stared at the documents on his desk before speaking abruptly. "Has William been here?"
Colin nodded. "Three times."
"Next time, tell him directly," Ethan said, his gaze frigid. "The Jackson Group isn't qualified."
