Chapter 154

Evelyn Sullivan was about to speak when Ethan Sullivan cut her off coldly. "This is between husband and wife. No outsiders need interfere."

Margaret Sullivan turned pale with rage. "Ethan! How much longer will you keep protecting her?"

An icy aura radiated from Ethan, plunging the hospital room into a sudden chill.

"Mrs. Sullivan," Evelyn said calmly, "Mr. Sullivan and I have already agreed to divorce once his leg injury heals."

"Evelyn Sullivan!"

Ethan's sharp gaze pierced through her like a blade.

She met his eyes steadily. "It's a settled matter. I don't want this causing rifts between you and your family."

"How considerate of you." The sarcasm in his voice made Evelyn press her lips together.

Margaret sneered. "Remember your words today. Don't come crawling back later!"

"Is Mr. Sullivan some priceless treasure worth clinging to?"

Margaret was left speechless, her face twisting with fury.

"No wonder the Jacksons can't stand you. That sharp tongue of yours is unbearable!"

Evelyn's expression turned frosty.

"Mother," Ethan said darkly, "if you have nothing else, you should go rest."

"You're dismissing me for an outsider now?"

"There wouldn't have been this scene if you hadn't stirred trouble."

"So I'm wrong for wanting you to divorce?"

"Since you recognize it's wrong, let this end here."

Margaret stood abruptly. "Fine! I won't interfere in your affairs anymore!"

"Good riddance."

The door slammed shut behind her.

Evelyn stood quietly by the hospital bed, her indifferent gaze fixed on the IV drip.

Half an hour later, Grandma Sullivan finally woke.

"Grandma, take it slow."

Evelyn rushed to support her.

Henry Sullivan approached quickly. "Mother, how are you feeling?"

The elderly woman shook her head weakly. "I'd like to be alone."

"Call us if you need anything."

As Evelyn carefully tucked in the blanket, she caught sight of a tear slipping down the old woman's cheek.

It was the first time she'd seen the ever-smiling Grandma Sullivan look so heartbroken.

In the hallway, Adrian Sullivan arrived in a hurry.

Henry lowered his voice. "Everyone should go home. There's no point crowding here."

"Keep us updated."

Outside the hospital, after Adrian left, Ethan spoke abruptly. "This incident, like my car accident, was premeditated."

Evelyn tightened her grip on the wheelchair handles. "Maybe it's just coincidence—"

"My grandmother actually had four children," Ethan's voice turned glacial. "The youngest was kidnapped as an infant. When we found them..."

Evelyn's heart clenched.

"So that package..."

"It's not suspicion." Ethan's tone brooked no argument. "I know it's the same person behind this."
