Chapter 150

Isabella's nails dug deep into her palms.

Her eyes reddened, but she stubbornly refused to shed a tear.

Margaret Sullivan shot an icy glare at Ethan's hand clasping Evelyn's.

"Ethan," she said coldly, "Isabella rarely visits Harmony Manor. Show her around."

Ethan didn't even glance up. "Let the housekeeper handle it."

"You—!" Margaret's chest heaved with anger. "She grew up with you! Is this how you treat her?"

The elderly Mrs. Sullivan slammed her teacdown with a sharp clatter.

"Enough! Anyone who causes trouble today will be thrown out!"

Isabella forced a smile. "Aunt Margaret, I just remembered I have plans with a friend. Excuse me."

Her skirt swirled sharply as she turned.

Margaret leaned closer to Ethan, her voice low. "After the banquet, you stay."

In the corner, Lily White swirled her champagne glass with a mocking laugh.

"What's the point of sucking up to Margaret? Ethan only has eyes for Evelyn."

Isabella's red lips curved dangerously. "Who said I was sucking up to her?"

"Suit yourself." Lily changed the subject. "I got the supporting role in Eternal Legacy."

Isabella clapped halfheartedly. "Congratulations, superstar."

"That bastard Alexander went crawling back to Sophia..." Lily suddenly crushed a pastry in her hand. "I won't let them be happy."

Before Isabella could ask more, Lily's phone lit up.

After a brief call, she stood abruptly. "Family emergency. Talk later."

The banquet hall fell silent.

Mrs. Sullivan's cake knife clattered to the floor.

Her trembling finger pointed toward the entrance. "Ad... Adrian?"

A man in a crisp suit smiled and spread his arms. "Grandmother, I've returned for your birthday."

The guests gasped collectively.

The long-lost eldest grandson of the Sullivan family had reappeared without warning.

Adrian knelt on one knee, taking the old woman's shaking hands. "This unfilial grandson has made you worry."

Tears streamed down Mrs. Sullivan's face—until her clouded eyes caught a glimpse of the faint scar peeking from his sleeve.

Her pupils constricted sharply.

That was unmistakably a gunshot wound.
