Chapter 124
Isabella Jackson's face turned deathly pale. Her slender fingers clutched the hem of her dress tightly.
Her eyes reddened, voice trembling. "So this is how you see me..."
Ethan Sullivan stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, his tall frame casting a long shadow. His expression remained indifferent, not even sparing her a glance.
The air in the office grew thick with tension.
Isabella waited. And waited. But no response came.
Tears spilled down her cheeks. She turned and fled the office.
The door slammed behind her with a loud bang.
She collided with Colin Keller, who nearly dropped the velvet box in his hands.
"Miss Jackson?" Colin steadied himself.
Isabella opened her mouth to snap at him—then froze. Her gaze locked onto the box.
Her pulse quickened. Her voice softened. "Is that...?"
Colin answered politely. "The Angel's Tears necklace. Just returned from maintenance."
She bit her lip, suppressing the sudden hope flaring in her chest. "Take it inside, then."
She lingered near the elevators, glancing back repeatedly. Three elevators came and went. The office door remained shut.
"Ethan Sullivan!" She stomped her foot in frustration and jabbed the elevator button.
Meanwhile, outside Rongcheng Police Station.
Vincent White emerged with a face like thunder. His lawyer trailed behind, shaking his head.
"Mr. White, this time it's..." The lawyer hesitated.
Vincent slid into his car, expression dark. "To Sullivan Group."
Top floor, Sullivan Tower.
Colin knocked and entered. "Sir, Vincent White has been waiting all afternoon."
Ethan didn't look up. "Let him wait."
Night had fallen when Ethan finally stepped out of the elevator. Vincent rushed forward. "Mr. Sullivan! Five minutes, please!"
Ethan's icy gaze swept over him. "You're asking the wrong person."
Beads of sweat formed on Vincent's forehead. "Just say the word, and I'll make them apologize to Mrs. Sullivan immediately!"
"Tell that to my wife." Ethan strode past, voice frigid. "It's not over until she says so."
PR Department, White Corporation.
"Mr. White, this statement will ruin Miss White's career!" The manager looked uneasy.
Vincent slammed his fist on the desk. "She brought this on herself!"
The manager flinched and nodded hastily. "I'll handle it right away."
Outside, the night stretched on, dark and endless.
