Chapter 108
Evelyn Sullivan had just stepped out of the airport when a chill ran down the back of her neck.
She slowed her pace subtly, scanning the area with her peripheral vision.
"We're being followed," she murmured under her breath.
Dr. Evan adjusted his glasses, the lenses reflecting a cold glint.
"Two cars, alternating positions," he said calmly. "They've been tailing us since the airport."
They exchanged a glance and silently altered their original route.
"Head to the hotel," Evan instructed as he dialed a number. "Find out who sent them."
Inside the hotel room, Evelyn peered through the gap in the curtains.
"Still there," she frowned. "Two separate groups."
Evan tossed the dismantled listening device into the toilet, the sound of flushing masking their conversation.
"Master's secret must stay hidden," Evelyn tapped her fingers lightly on the table.
The door suddenly burst open.
"Police raid!"
Evelyn nearly reacted on instinct as officers stormed in.
An hour later, outside the police station.
"Apologies, it was a mistake," the officer said awkwardly.
Back at the hotel, they booked separate rooms.
Meanwhile, at Sullivan Group headquarters in Rongcheng.
"Mr. Sullivan, Ms. Sullivan checked in alone," the voice on the phone reported.
The pen in Ethan Sullivan's hand snapped in half.
"Keep watching her."
The next morning at breakfast, Evan wore a strange expression.
"I found out. One group was after me."
Evelyn paused mid-stir of her coffee.
"And the other?"
"Your ex-husband."
Her cup slammed onto the table.
She stepped into a corner and dialed a number.
"Call off your men," she said icily.
Ethan's cold laugh echoed through the receiver.
"Explain why you booked a room first."
A smirk curled Evelyn's lips.
"Guess," she said before hanging up abruptly.
