Chapter 89
Nathan Evans idly scrolled through his phone in the VIP lounge.
Thirty minutes until boarding. He glared at the clock, willing time to move faster.
His finger froze mid-swipe.
Ethan Winston had just posted a new story—a sunset beach in Maldives with a cryptic caption: "Finally met the one I've been waiting for."
The comments exploded.
"Is Ethan chasing someone?"
"Could it be that Ms. Langley?"
Ethan only replied with a suggestive emoji.
Nathan's eyes turned icy.
He'd just ordered his assistant to spread false intel, and now Ethan flew to Maldives.
The boarding announcement blared overhead.
As he grabbed his jacket, the lounge door swung open.
Chloe Valentine stood there, eyes sparkling.
"Nathan!" She threw herself into his arms. "I knew you still cared!"
His entire body stiffened.
Chloe waved her boarding pass excitedly. "I packed everything! Those overwater villas are so romantic—you can hear the waves at night—"
A vein throbbed at Nathan's temple.
"Restroom." He cut her off coldly and strode away.
Around the corner, he dialed his assistant.
"Sebastian." His voice could freeze hell. "Explain."
Panicked stammering came through. "Sir, the new intern mixed up the—"
"Don't bother coming in tomorrow."
Nathan inhaled sharply after hanging up.
Back at the gate, Chloe waited with eager eyes.
"Let's go." His expression remained blank.
Chloe practically skipped after him, her winged eyeliner perfectly sharp.
Her fingers brushed the lace negligee hidden in her suitcase.
Nathan hadn't touched her since that drunken mistake.
This trip would change everything.
