Chapter 179

"Fine, you win. Happy now?" Sophia Laurent scoffed.

"Hospital policy requires notifying family members for car accident patients. I didn’t want to worry my parents, so I put your number down." She waved her shattered phone. "If my phone hadn’t broken, you wouldn’t have had to come all this way for nothing."

Evelyn Langley finally understood why her calls kept going unanswered.

"Are you badly hurt?"

"All tests are done. I’m fine." Sophia grabbed her bag. "Just need to finish the paperwork, then we can leave."

As they reached the lobby, they collided with Margaret Evans and Chloe Valentine.

Margaret was clinging to Chloe’s arm, chatting and laughing intimately.

"No wonder the mistress is so brazen—she’s got her future mother-in-law backing her." Sophia sneered.

Margaret froze at the sight of Evelyn. After six months, the woman wasn’t haggard at all—she looked radiant.

Chloe’s steps faltered. Her hand drifted to her flat stomach.

"Evelyn, what a coincidence." Her voice was saccharine. "I just found out I’m pregnant. Nathan was overjoyed."

Evelyn turned away without expression.

"It’s still early, but once the bump shows, things will get complicated..." Chloe continued, as if to herself.

"Congratulations." Evelyn’s tone was icy. "But I don’t need to know."

"I just wanted to share the good news—"

"Share my ass!" Sophia exploded. "You’re proud of being a homewrecker? Even pigs can breed—what’s there to flaunt?"

"Instead of strutting around, focus on making Nathan marry you! You’ve already botched your pathetic hand—how dare you show your face here!"

Chloe’s eyes welled up instantly. "How can you say such things..."

Margaret stepped protectively in front of her. "Miss Laurent, mind your language!"

Sophia smirked. "Apologies. I’ve never been polite to shameless people."

Margaret’s face darkened with rage, but she didn’t retaliate.
