Chapter 104

Evelyn couldn't comprehend it.

Did he think this was some twisted way of "remaining faithful" to her?

Absolutely ridiculous!

In the hotel room—

Nathan turned off all the lights, forcing himself to sleep.

But the moment he closed his eyes, images of Evelyn laughing with Ethan on the beach flooded his mind.

Their carefree laughter stabbed at his temples like needles.

He tossed and turned all night until dawn.

In the morning restaurant—

Chloe clung to his arm, cautiously studying his expression.

The elevator doors opened, revealing Ethan's long strides.

Their gazes collided midair, tension crackling between them.

Just then—

Evelyn and Sophia entered through the side door.

Ethan immediately brightened. "Good morning. Sleep well?"

His familiar tone suggested years of friendship.

But Nathan detected nothing but calculation.

Sophia nodded casually. "Decent."

Evelyn rubbed her arm. "Just too many mosquitoes."

Ethan gestured invitingly. "Join me?"

Sophia agreed readily. "Sure."

The trio walked in together, laughing, completely oblivious to Nathan in the corner.

His expression darkened instantly.

As he moved to intercept them, Ethan suddenly stopped. "Forgot something. Go ahead without me."

Once they were out of earshot, Ethan turned toward Nathan.

"What's your game?" Nathan demanded coldly.

Ethan lowered his voice. "Follow me."

He strode toward the emergency exit without waiting for a response.

Though irritated, Nathan followed.

Meanwhile—

Sophia nudged Evelyn. "You're acting different around Ethan today."

Evelyn frowned. "Nonsense."

"Don't play dumb," Sophia teased. "You're usually ice-cold with admirers."

Evelyn shoved a piece of fruit into her mouth. "He just did me a favor."

In the emergency stairwell—

Ethan got straight to the point. "My legal team's preparing to sue the hotel."

Nathan scoffed. "Here to gloat?"

"Don't you find yesterday's incident suspicious?" Ethan said meaningfully.

Nathan's gaze sharpened. "Explain."

"The shark appeared at a very convenient time," Ethan met his eyes. "But someone erased all traces of human interference."

Nathan sneered. "Stop trying to sow discord."
