Chapter 114
The girl's eyes curved into crescents. "Great news! The doctor said the wound is healing well..."
At the mention of her injury, Nathan Evans' gaze instantly softened.
"Let's take a cruise?" She tugged his sleeve lightly. "I heard the Captain's Dinner is amazing..." Her voice dripped with honeyed sweetness.
Nathan found himself agreeing. "Alright."
"Mwah! Love you most~"
......
The icy wind at Kyoto Airport cut like knives.
Evelyn Langley shivered the moment she stepped out of the terminal. She tightened her down jacket, but the bone-chilling cold still seeped through.
Glazed frost coated the tree branches as freezing rain drizzled down. The usually bustling road stood eerily empty.
Her phone showed the rideshare stuck five kilometers away—estimated arrival in thirty minutes.
Just as she debated canceling the order, a black sedan pulled up smoothly.
The window lowered, revealing Adrian Klein's striking profile. His gray turtleneck accentuated his sharp jawline, the Adam's apple faintly visible.
"Get in." His tone was clipped. "Impossible to get a cab now."
Blissful warmth enveloped her inside.
Adrian retrieved a hand warmer from the compartment. "Use this first."
Evelyn's numb fingers gradually regained feeling. "Thanks. Thought I'd turn into an ice sculpture." She chuckled self-deprecatingly.
"Traffic restrictions reduced rideshares," he explained.
"That explains it..." Realization dawned. "Wait, why are you at the airport?"
"Pickup." His eyes remained on the road. "Flight got rescheduled."
Truth was, he'd spotted that familiar figure shivering in the rearview mirror.
The light turned red.
"Still cold?" he asked.
"Much better." She rubbed her hands. "Hard to adjust after the tropics."
Suddenly remembering, she dug out a small box from her bag. "For you."
Adrian blinked. "A gift?"
"Everyone got something." Smiling, she opened it—revealing a chibi figurine of a bespectacled man in a suit, sitting primly with a book.
He studied the round-faced doll for a long moment. "Aside from the glasses, what's similar?"
