Chapter 148

The small courtyard attached to the first floor wasn't spacious, but William Langley had transformed it into a miniature garden. Potted plants were arranged in perfect harmony, each one blooming vibrantly despite the limited space.

"I wish we could grow hydrangeas here..." William sighed as he gazed at the yard.

Seeing his disappointment, Evelyn Langley picked up her phone and browsed gardening websites. Her finger suddenly paused. "Dad, what are we doing with this place after moving to the new house?"

"Sell it," William calculated. "This location is prime real estate."

"Keep it," Evelyn said firmly.

William looked puzzled. "Why?"

"Wait for the right moment." A mysterious smile played on Evelyn's lips.

She remembered the development contract she'd accidentally seen in Nathan Evans' study. The planning map for the neighboring city's shopping district clearly included the Faculty Housing where they lived now. This secret, she had to keep to herself.

"The sales office notified us to complete paperwork tomorrow," Evelyn changed the subject.

William's eyes lit up. "Should I move some plants over first?"

"Of course. We already have the villa keys." Evelyn smiled.

The next morning, the Langley family rose early.

William busied himself packing potted plants while Victoria Langley organized their clothes. A three-wheeled vehicle waited downstairs, its cargo space filled with flowerpots.

"I'll go arrange these at the new place first," William squeezed into the driver's seat. "Wait for me after you finish the paperwork."

At the sales office, Emily Fairsprene greeted them warmly. "Miss Langley, this way please!"

The formalities proceeded smoothly. As they exited the VIP room, a familiar voice called out.

"Sister-in-law? Evelyn?"

Victoria turned to see Charles Lorenz in a tailored suit.

"Second brother? What are you—"

"We've been looking everywhere for you!" Patricia Lorenz's voice suddenly cut in, then froze when she saw Victoria.
