Chapter 260
Evelyn turned to leave but found herself caught in Adrian's intense gaze.
The corners of her lips lifted slightly as she silently mouthed two words.
Adrian clearly read them—Thank you.
......
As night deepened, Adrian led the team to a bustling night market eatery.
"I come here often for their barbecue. Evelyn, you must try their signature beef skewers." Natalie enthusiastically piled food onto Evelyn's plate.
Vincent handed her a cup of chrysanthemum tea. "This will help cool you down. Their kimchi is excellent too—want some?"
The sudden warmth left Evelyn flustered, though she understood it was their way of making amends.
Camille's grip on her chopsticks tightened until her knuckles turned white.
Once the center of attention, she now watched as all eyes focused on Evelyn.
"I need air." She abruptly stood and left the table.
Oliver quietly followed.
Red lanterns lined the alley as Camille wandered aimlessly, his footsteps shadowing hers.
She whirled around. "Enjoying this? Can't even let me breathe?"
After a beat of silence, Oliver asked, "Camille, did that dataset ever exist?"
Her pupils constricted. "What are you implying?"
"The lab was empty after hours. When did you run those experiments?"
"Oliver!" Her voice sharpened. "Are you accusing me?"
"I just don't want to see you make mistakes."
Tears welled in her eyes. "You don't believe me either?"
"I took the blame for a reason—you know why." Oliver held her gaze. "I want the truth."
"Yes! It was me!" she exploded. "Go report me then! I don't need your fake concern!"
Stunned by her outburst, Oliver faltered. "Why...?"
"Everything changed after she arrived! Professor Klein, Natalie, Vincent—even you!" Her voice trembled. "I'm sick of it!"
Seeing her red-rimmed eyes, Oliver stepped closer. "Camille, I love you. Be with me."
