Chapter 211

Nathan Evans jerked his hand back as if electrocuted, his eyes panicked. "I'm sorry, Evelyn... I didn't mean to... I just... didn't want you avoiding me..."

"Don't touch me!" Evelyn Langley clutched her throbbing scalp, her eyes reddening.

Rapid footsteps approached from a distance.

Dylan Lowell arrived with Ethan Winston in tow.

"Where are you hurt?" Ethan bypassed Nathan completely, his gaze locked on Evelyn's reddened forehead.

Thirty minutes earlier, he'd been signing an eight-figure contract.

The moment Dylan called, he'd thrown down his pen and left.

He'd run three red lights before meeting Dylan at the alley entrance.

They'd rushed straight to Evelyn's building in silent agreement.

Just as expected, they found Nathan drunk and disorderly.

Evelyn took half a step back, avoiding Ethan's outstretched hand. "I'm fine."

Ethan's eyes narrowed at her disheveled hair. "Your scalp's red. That's not 'fine.'"

His voice dropped lower. "You don't have to pretend with me."

Nathan suddenly lunged forward. "Ethan Winston! Who gave you the right to interfere?"

"I'll say what I want." Ethan didn't even glance his way.

Nathan turned on Dylan. "Why'd you bring him? To humiliate me?"

Dylan spread his hands helplessly.

Why was the fire directed at him now?

Ethan's voice turned icy. "Dylan came because he considers you a brother. Otherwise, who'd care if you lived or died?"

"Brothers?" Nathan sneered. "Where was this brotherhood when you were stealing my girl?"

"She stopped being your girlfriend long ago."

"So that makes it okay? Ethan, have you no shame?"

Ethan scoffed. "Weren't you the one who dumped her at the bar?"

Nathan choked on his words.

Ethan turned back to Evelyn, speaking softly. "Go inside."

Seeing Dylan nod in agreement, Evelyn turned toward the building.

She desperately wanted someone to rein Nathan in.

Preferably before the police got involved.

With Dylan here, things probably wouldn't escalate too badly...

Nathan moved to follow, but Ethan blocked him.

"Get out of my way!"

"Can't you see how much she dislikes you?"

"She hates you!"

Ethan smirked coldly. "She used to tolerate your crap. Not anymore."
