Chapter 175
Chloe Valentine trembled uncontrollably. Nathan Evans' icy gaze cut through her heart like a knife.
She never expected him to be so ruthless, leaving her not even a sliver of hope.
"Nathan, I know I was wrong." She shakily held up the ultrasound report. "Look, the baby already has a heartbeat. How can you abandon them?"
Nathan glanced at the blurry ultrasound image, his lips curling into a mocking smirk.
"Get rid of it."
"Better not to bring a fatherless child into this world."
Besides, he didn’t even believe the child was his.
As he turned to leave, Chloe desperately grabbed his sleeve.
"Are you sentencing me to death over one mistake?" Her voice was hoarse. "I only did it because I loved you too much!"
Nathan shook her off without a word and strode upstairs.
Chloe stared at his retreating figure, her nails digging deep into her palms.
This was all Evelyn Langley’s fault!
If that woman hadn’t clung to Nathan like a ghost, she wouldn’t have resorted to such measures.
A ruthless glint flashed in her eyes.
Fine. If this was how it had to be, she wouldn’t hold back anymore.
On Saturday morning, Evelyn received a call from the police.
"We’re sorry, but the evidence is insufficient..."
She hung up calmly, unsurprised by the outcome.
A notification popped up on her phone—a trending post on the campus forum.
Beneath a secretly taken profile photo of her, the comments section was in chaos.
"New campus queen!"
"Someone get me her number!"
Evelyn sighed and closed the tab, returning to her thesis edits.
The doorbell rang.
Assuming it was her food delivery, she opened the door—only to meet Nathan’s bloodshot eyes.
She immediately tried to shut the door, but he blocked it with his arm.
"Evelyn, I’ve uncovered everything about the Maldives incident." His voice was rough. "Chloe set me up on purpose."
"I’ve cut ties with her completely."
He reached out as if to touch her face but froze mid-air.
"Give me another chance. Please."
Evelyn’s heart ached at the sight of his haggard face.
The once proud and untouchable man now stood before her like a remorseful child.
