Chapter 304

The nurse's fingers fidgeted nervously over the medical chart.

"What's going on?" The doctor frowned impatiently.

"The family...has left."

"What do you mean left?" The doctor's voice sharpened abruptly.

The nurse shrank back. "This patient is a Super VIP client. She's been hospitalized several times before."

The doctor was newly assigned to the night shift and unfamiliar with Chloe Valentine's case.

But the nursing staff knew—every time this particular patient was admitted, the entire department braced for impact.

"This isn't the time for that!" The doctor slammed the chart down. "The fetus has no heartbeat. The mother is hemorrhaging. Emergency surgery now!"

"But...the man who brought her in just left her here..."

The doctor's eyes turned icy.

The world of the wealthy truly knew no mercy.

"Check visitor logs," the doctor gritted out. "Contact anyone who can sign the consent forms!"

......

Margaret Evans' phone blinked silently on her nightstand.

The screen lit up, then darkened into oblivion.

Isabella Evans was drowning in the deafening music of a nightclub when her phone rang for the third time.

"What?" she snapped upon answering.

The fragmented voice came through the line.

"The hospital? Chloe Valentine?" She let out a derisive laugh. "This act again?"

"Miscarriage? Don't joke—that womb of hers is harder than stone!"

"Sign something? No time! Let her play her games alone!"

She hung up and melted back into the dancing crowd.

......

The nurse set down the receiver, face grim.

"Well?" The doctor pressed.

"No one's willing to come..." The nurse hesitated. "Dr. Wang, this pregnant woman...her situation is complicated."

The doctor raised an eyebrow.

"Rumor has it...she was trying to leverage the baby into marrying rich." The nurse lowered her voice. "The father never wanted the child."

"Last hospitalization, she had a huge fight with the man's mother..."

The doctor's gaze hardened.

"Prepare emergency protocols." Her voice was steel. "Pull surveillance footage. Follow procedure."

Snapping on gloves, she spoke with cold precision:

"Begin surgery."
