Chapter 233

Evelyn Langley adjusted the collar of her cheongsam. "This style is too rigid. Why not try something more casual?"

Margaret Evans' face darkened, her nails digging into her palms.

Chloe Valentine bit her lower lip, her fingertips trembling.

Eleanor Roland caught their expressions and smirked. "Some people mistake glass for diamonds. How amusing."

"Wrap both sets," she said, beckoning the sales associate.

The associate beamed as she accepted the credit card.

"Evelyn, let's check the next boutique."

"Alright."

After they left, Margaret stared at her reflection, chest heaving.

Chloe hunched her shoulders. "Pregnancy makes me so tired. I was up all night taking care of Nathan..."

Margaret's gaze flicked to Chloe's slight baby bump as she suppressed her rage.

"With your taste, how could you ever belong in the Evans family?"

Chloe's eyes lit up.

"I'll study hard to improve."

Margaret tossed a gilded invitation at her. "Tea appreciation gathering tomorrow. Don't embarrass me."

Chloe clutched it like treasure.

......

Outside the mall, Eleanor linked arms with Evelyn. "I need a favor."

"Of course."

"I'm hosting a tea party and need an expert." Eleanor winked. "Your Phoenix Oolong is legendary."
