Chapter 424

"Payment?" Chloe Valentine's fingers trembled slightly. "It's always been on auto-pay."

"I'm sorry, your account has been frozen."

"Frozen? Who did this?"

"The account holder personally requested it."

Chloe suddenly laughed, tears streaming down her face.

"Nathan Evans, you're ruthless."

After over a month in the hospital, Chloe was finally discharged.

She stood at the entrance, the sunlight stinging her eyes.

......

Nathan ended his meeting early today.

"Take me home," he ordered the driver curtly.

Outside the car window, the sky darkened as storm clouds loomed low.

He hated this kind of weather—humid and suffocating.

The car screeched to a sudden halt as they entered the gated community.

Nathan lurched forward, nearly hitting his forehead on the front seat.

"What happened?" His voice was icy.

"Sorry, Mr. Evans," the driver stammered. "Someone ran out in front of us..."

Nathan looked up.

Through the rain, a frail figure stood before the car.

Chloe was drenched, her white dress clinging to her like a drowned butterfly.

The driver winced in sympathy.

Nathan didn't even blink. "Call security."

Chloe had nowhere left to go.

Her mother had fled with her younger brother. Her university had already expelled her.

Nathan was her last hope.

"Nathan!" She pounded on the car window, her voice breaking. "I know I was wrong..."

Rain and tears mixed on her lips, bitter and salty.

"You're all I have left..."

The window remained shut.

Security quickly surrounded her.

"Miss, you need to leave immediately."

"I live here!" Chloe stomped her foot in frustration. "Nathan can vouch for me!"

She desperately knocked on the window. "Nathan! Please say something..."

Two guards grabbed her arms and began dragging her away.

Nathan watched coldly.

"Drive," he commanded.

The driver wiped his brow and hit the gas.
