Chapter 392

Victor Dimucci studied the three unfamiliar faces before him, recognizing them as Professor Eleanor Roland's newly recruited graduate students.

"Can I help you?" He set down his lab notebook.

Liam Kalmien took a step forward. "Do you conduct all your experiments in this lab, Senior Victor?"

"Mostly. Specialized equipment requires other facilities."

Evelyn Langley cut straight to the chase. "Did you reserve Lab C122?"

"C122?" Victor's brow furrowed slightly.

"Your research doesn't require CPRT Analyzers." Evelyn's gaze sharpened.

Victor adjusted his cufflinks before meeting her eyes again. "I did borrow it."

The two exchanged glances.

"Experimental necessity. Any problem?"

Evelyn pressed further. "Why has the lab remained empty?"

"Occasional usage."

Hannah Flores unclenched her fists. The explanation was airtight.

"How long will you need it?"

"Depends on research progress."

"Understood." Evelyn turned to signal their departure.

Victor watched their retreating figures with a grave expression. After packing his equipment, he headed straight for the administration building.

The door to Professor Beatrice Merouin's office stood slightly ajar.

"Why does Victor get the National Scholarship?" Audrey Escent's shrill voice pierced the air.

"He has tangible research achievements. What do you have?" Beatrice's tone turned glacial.

"My paper—"

"Shall I explain how you obtained it?"

Audrey immediately softened. "Aunt Beatrice, I just wanted to bring honor to our family..."

"Next year."

"I knew you'd side with me!"

"Maintain decorum."

A knock interrupted them.

Victor entered expressionlessly. Beatrice instantly brightened. "Victor! Please sit."

Audrey reluctantly scooted aside.

"No need." Victor remained standing.

Beatrice smiled warmly. "What brings you here?"
