Chapter 333
Adrian Klein immediately recognized the middle-aged couple.
He strode forward with a warm smile. "Hello, I'm Adrian Klein. I live next door to Evelyn."
Evelyn Langley snapped out of her daze and quickly made introductions.
"Mom, Dad, this is Professor Klein who lent me his lab."
William Langley studied the young man with surprise. "I didn't expect the professor to be so young. The younger generation surpasses the old."
Victoria Langley also looked astonished. "Thank you for looking after our Evelyn."
"Please, just call me Adrian."
Adrian?
William and his wife exchanged glances.
"What's this..." William noticed the distinctive notebook in Adrian's hands.
Adrian explained, "These are the Calendar Notes I borrowed from Professor Quentin Valois in Harvard's physics department."
Seeing William's confusion, he continued, "It's a Harvard physics tradition. Each year's top student records research notes on trending topics with their own analyses and predictions."
"These notes get updated annually like a calendar, passed down through generations of outstanding graduates. Professor Valois bound all his students' notes into volumes."
Though Adrian simplified his explanation, William still looked bewildered.
"Did I make it too complicated?" Adrian asked apologetically.
Victoria suddenly remembered something. "William, wasn't your mentor also surnamed Valois?"
"Quentin Valois?" Adrian blurted out.
"Yes! Exactly!" William grew excited.
Adrian looked surprised. "You studied physics at Harvard?"
William scratched his head sheepishly. "I'm the least accomplished among Professor Valois' students now..."
He'd given up his direct PhD admission offer to return home and care for his parents.
"How is Professor Valois' health?"
"Still sharp as ever," Adrian smiled.
William nodded in relief. "That's good. Adrian, are you also from Harvard physics?"
"I'm from MIT's physics department."
William's eyes lit up. "Physics is wonderful! What's your research focus—"
Victoria quickly interrupted. "The professor surely has things to attend to. Stop pestering him."
Only then did William notice Adrian's briefcase. "My apologies. Don't let me keep you."
"No trouble at all. You've just arrived—I won't intrude. We'll catch up another time."
After seeing Adrian out, Evelyn busied herself unpacking.
Victoria and William wandered through their daughter's cozy two-bedroom apartment, taking in every homely detail.
