Chapter 302
Chloe Valentine stroked her swollen belly, a cold smirk playing on her lips.
With a 500 million dollar bargaining chip growing inside her, what did she have to fear?
Margaret Evans' dramatic exit was perfect. The old hag might as well take all those servants with her—this way Chloe could replace them with her own people.
She sauntered lazily toward the kitchen, craving a snack.
The mansion stood eerily empty, devoid of any human presence.
Her gaze landed on a pair of polished men's leather shoes by the entrance.
Nathan was home?
Her eyes lit up as she hurried to change into a scandalous red lace nightgown.
Tiptoeing to the study door, she deliberately softened her voice. "Nathan? Are you in there?"
A pointless question.
The lit study could only mean one person.
"Enter."
His icy baritone sent shivers down her spine.
Chloe pushed the door open, wearing a saccharine smile.
"Nathan..."
He looked up to see her nearly transparent nightgown.
The flimsy spaghetti straps barely clung to her shoulders, her chest barely concealed.
Not seductive. Just cheap.
Encouraged by his lack of reaction, she grew bolder.
"You've been working so hard lately. Let me give you a massage..."
She deliberately avoided mentioning their last fight, pretending it never happened.
Nathan watched her with detached indifference.
His disgust had long since numbed him.
Since he couldn't change the situation, he might as well ignore it.
Chloe mistook his silence for consent.
Her hands slid down his shoulders.
"Don't you miss me and the baby after all this time apart?"
Nathan suddenly grabbed her wrist.
"Who tampered with the files in my study?"
"H-how would I know?" She forced a laugh. "Maybe Aunt Margaret accidentally moved them..."
"Really?" His冷笑 was razor-sharp.
"Aunt Margaret took all the servants away. There's no one left to take care of me and the baby..."
"What do you want?"
"At least call Mrs. Watson and the others back—"
Nathan stood abruptly.
Slap! Slap!
Two stinging blows landed on Chloe's cheeks.
He yanked her hair, dragging her to the computer monitor.
"Then explain this. Who is this person in the surveillance footage?"
