Chapter 226

Dylan's hand trembled slightly as he gripped the phone.

"Is the speaker on? Can everyone hear me clearly?" Ethan's voice crackled through the speakers. "Then I'll begin."

Nathan's cigarette snapped between his fingers.

"Latest update—" Ethan deliberately drew out the words, "Just left her place. She accepted the milk tea I brought. Need me to elaborate?"

"An hour ago, we were having a heart-to-heart at the milk tea shop near her apartment."

"Every word's true. Feel free to verify."

Dylan stole a glance at the stormy expression on the man beside him, sweat beading on his forehead.

Ethan continued mercilessly, "Should I repeat that? So someone can record it and savor it later."

Dylan fumbled to end the call.

"Nathan..." He attempted damage control, "Ethan might just be joking..."

Nathan turned and kicked open the private room door.

Julian arched an eyebrow at Dylan: What fresh hell is this?

Dylan shook his head helplessly.

"Bring the liquor." Nathan's voice was glacial. "We're drinking till dawn."

...

2 AM. Empty bottles littered the floor.

Nathan slumped over the bar counter, murmuring drunkenly, "Evelyn..."

Julian exhaled a smoke ring. "Here we go again."

"Yeah."

"Serves him right." Julian smirked coldly. "Played the heartless bastard during the breakup. Now he's putting on this lovesick act."

Dylan intervened quickly, "Let's get him back to the hotel."

...

A shrill ringtone shattered the morning silence.

"Who?" Nathan growled, grabbing the phone.

"Young master, Miss Chloe says she has stomach pains..." Mrs. Watson's voice trembled with worry.

"Call a doctor." He hung up without hesitation.

The phone rang again.

"The doctor says a pregnant woman's emotions affect the fetus..."

Nathan cursed as he hauled himself up.

...

Chloe adjusted her dress before the mirror.

The off-shoulder design showcased her delicate collarbones, while the satin fabric hugged her curves. She caressed her flat stomach with a triumphant smile.

The doorbell chimed.

"Nathan!" She greeted him in a honeyed voice. "You came back to me."
