Chapter 220
"Who gave you permission to enter?"
Nathan's icy voice sent a shiver down Chloe's spine.
Her hands trembled slightly as she held the tray. "I...I noticed you didn't eat dinner..."
"Get out."
The man didn't even look up, his slender fingers continuing to flip through documents.
"Nathan, I—"
"Do I need to repeat myself?"
Chloe's eyes instantly welled up, the soup bowl on the tray clinking softly.
Nathan finally lifted his gaze, his eyes sharp as daggers. "Remember this—you don't step into this room without my permission."
"But this is the master bedroom..." Her voice cracked.
"Master bedroom?" Nathan sneered. "You think you deserve it?"
Chloe staggered back, nearly dropping the tray.
Nathan watched her coldly, his expression dripping with disdain.
"Take that away."
Biting her lip, Chloe turned to leave.
"Wait."
She spun around hopefully.
"Your perfume is disgusting."
Chloe fled in humiliation.
In the hallway, the housekeeper approached. "Madam, the young master still refuses to eat?"
Chloe instantly smoothed her expression into gentleness. "Yes, I'll think of another way. Please take these away for now."
She ascended the stairs gracefully, but around the corner, her nails dug into her palms until they turned red.
Light seeped from beneath the master bedroom door.
She swore she would claim that room.
Late into the night, Nathan unexpectedly stayed home.
Chloe heard the sounds of a meal being delivered next door.
She clenched the bedsheet.
Was she less important than a servant?
Her phone suddenly rang.
"Chloe! Are you okay?" Her roommate Emily's voice was frantic.
Chloe frowned. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"You've missed two weeks of classes! The professor said he'll mark you absent—"
"Whatever." Chloe cut her off impatiently.
"But—"
"Were those designer bags I gave you not enough?"
She hung up abruptly.
Staring at her phone, Chloe dialed another number.
"What?" The voice on the other end was glacial.
"That drug...can you still get it?" she whispered.
