Chapter 216
The lab was silent.
Oliver Lancelot's fingers danced across the keyboard. The screen displayed nothing but blank space.
"The data can't be recovered." He shook his head. "Without knowing the exact missing content, we can't conduct a precise search."
Vincent Macmillan adjusted his glasses. "We'd need to recall at least one-tenth of the data volume."
"One-tenth?" Oliver's eyes widened. "That's three complete sets of experimental data!"
Camille Valrose let out a cold laugh. "Who could possibly remember that?" Her gaze slid pointedly toward Evelyn Langley. "Some people will say anything to show off."
Evelyn stood by the lab bench, her fingertips lightly tracing the table's surface.
"I can try."
Oliver gasped dramatically. "You?" He pointed at the computer screen. "Even we who conducted the experiments can't recall this data. You're just an outsider—"
Adrian Klein frowned slightly, though his gaze remained gentle. "Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"One question." Adrian took a step closer. "How would you know our experimental data?"
Evelyn turned to look at Camille.
Camille exploded. "Why are you looking at me?" Her voice turned shrill. "The professor asked you a question!"
Confusion flickered across the faces of the other lab members.
Evelyn pressed her lips together. "At noon two days ago, I found a report near Lab Station Three." She paused. "It had footprints on it. I thought it had been discarded."
Every pair of eyes swiveled toward Camille.
Lab Station Three was her designated workspace.
