Chapter 143

William Langley looked surprised. "What brings us here?"

Evelyn Langley was about to answer when a sales consultant from the property office eagerly approached. "Are you here to view properties? We offer a full range of layouts, from starter homes to premium upgrades."

"Just browsing," Evelyn replied coolly.

She gestured toward the scale model. "This is our master plan for Phase Three. The development is fully equipped with shopping centers, schools, and hospitals—everything for convenient living."

Evelyn's gaze swept over the model. "The spacing between buildings seems a bit tight."

"It's common for high-rises. To maximize density, the spacing is designed to be efficient."

"I heard you also have a villa section?"

The Lakeside Pearl project featured two product lines: standard high-rise apartments and standalone villas. The villas adopted a contemporary design with two-story structures, front courtyards, and private backyards. Unlike sprawling traditional estates, these compact villas catered to modern families, making them highly sought-after in the area.

Evelyn had done her research. "I'd like to see the Lakeside Villas."

William adored gardening—their home needed a proper garden. Victoria preferred writing outdoors and required a quiet backyard, ideally with a gazebo.

The consultant gave her a second glance. The young woman wore no makeup yet radiated effortless beauty. Her simple outfit and lack of accessories made her purchasing power hard to gauge, but her striking features suggested she wasn’t ordinary.

"Evelyn!" William quickly pulled his daughter aside. "The model is enough. No need to tour the villas and waste their time."

"Dad, what do you think of this development?"

"The location is excellent. Several colleagues bought units here."

It was steps away from Linshi No.2 High School, just across the street. But the prices were staggering—fully furnished in a prime location, the cost per square foot doubled neighboring complexes.

"How about we buy one?" Evelyn dropped the bombshell.

William nearly choked. "Don’t joke around. What if the consultant takes you seriously?"

Victoria agreed. "They’re working through the holidays. Let’s not waste their time."

"Exactly, let’s go..."

Though they whispered, the consultant heard every word. Her smile instantly faded. So they were just window-shoppers! The middle-aged couple clearly lived frugally—what could they possibly afford? Villas? Please.
