Chapter 80

Bennett hesitated, glancing at President Sterling.

"I was planning to handle this after my return," he admitted. "But if you'd like to take care of it, I can prepare everything for you."

They already had all the evidence they needed. All that remained was submitting it to the proper authorities. Olivia Kensington wouldn’t stand a chance.

As the elevator doors slid open, employees greeted Evelyn Sinclair warmly.

She returned their smiles effortlessly before stepping into her office. A smirk curled her lips.

"Track Olivia’s recent activities," she ordered. "I want to see if she’s finally developed a brain."

Bennett nodded. "She’s been cozying up to high society lately. There’s a private gathering tonight—she’ll be there."

Evelyn arched a brow. "Send me the address. I think I’ll drop by."

"Right away, ma’am."

It took Bennett no time at all to secure the details.

Evelyn dismissed him with a wave. "If that’s all, you can go. Tell my brother I’ll handle the cleanup."

"Understood."

Once alone, Evelyn dialed Dominic Young. His boisterous laughter filled the line instantly.

"Ms. Sinclair, planning your grand return to the spotlight?"

He was teasing her about the recent tabloid frenzy. Evelyn rubbed her temples.

"Shut it down. This is all Alexander’s fault."

Dominic chuckled. "Your brother cares about you. Though, I noticed Nathan Blackwood in quite a few of those photos. I think Lucas just wanted to get under his skin, didn’t he?"

Why would Nathan care if she was seen with another man?

She paused, then said coolly, "I don’t want my name linked to his. Handle it, Mr. Young."

"Ms. Sinclair, no need to be so formal. I’m at your service."

Dominic was always eager to please—after all, she was his boss.

Hanging up, Evelyn checked the address Bennett had sent.

A country club near Velvet Lounge.

How convenient—she already had a membership there.

Blackwood Corporation.

Nathan stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows of his office, watching the city below. The restless energy that had plagued him all morning slowly ebbed away.

Had he overreacted?

Between the airport and Evelyn’s apartment—what could have possibly happened in such a short time?

He’d only seen Lucas there and jumped to conclusions.

Maybe it was nothing.

Yet the internet was ablaze with speculation. Some accused Evelyn of moving on too quickly, others claimed she’d been unfaithful even during their marriage.

Lucas’s fans were divided—some praised him for pursuing love boldly, while others deemed Evelyn unworthy of their idol.

The wildest rumors suggested she’d traded secrets for her freedom in the divorce.

Nathan scoffed.

"Insider information? If there was any, the world wouldn’t deserve to know."

A knock interrupted his thoughts.

Harrison stepped in. "Sir, there’s a document requiring your signature."

Nathan’s gaze remained fixed on the skyline. "Suppress the media frenzy. And make sure no one digs deeper—I won’t have our stock prices dragged into this."

Harrison nodded. "Right away."

Not long after, he returned, hesitant.

"Sir, the online chatter has already died down. All articles about Ms. Sinclair have been removed."

Nathan frowned. "Already?"

"I hadn’t even contacted the media yet. It seems someone else acted first."

"Who?"

"President Dominic Young of Horizon Media."

Harrison watched his boss carefully. Nathan’s expression darkened, but he said nothing.

The silence stretched, thick and heavy.

Harrison barely dared to breathe.

Someone had beaten them to it.

And Nathan didn’t look pleased.

"Get out," he finally gritted out.
