Chapter 201

With the matter finally settled, Evelyn Sinclair exhaled in relief. Isabella Montgomery extended a shopping invitation which Evelyn eagerly accepted.

The upscale mall buzzed with activity as the two friends strolled through its marble corridors. By chance, they wandered into an exclusive automotive showroom where a gleaming Aston Martin sat center stage, its polished curves catching the light.

Even Evelyn, accustomed to luxury, paused to admire the vehicle's flawless design. "This masterpiece belongs in my private collection," she murmured, running her fingers along the sleek hood.

Isabella rolled her eyes playfully. "Only you would say that about a million-dollar car."

A sharp-eyed salesman approached, immediately recognizing Evelyn from recent headlines about her extravagant purchases. His commission dreams danced before his eyes as he practically bowed. "Ms. Sinclair! How may I assist you today?"

Just as Evelyn considered the purchase, a familiar voice cut through the showroom. "I'll take it. Name your price."

Turning, Evelyn faced Victoria Ashford and Sophia Blackwood. The contrast between them was striking - Victoria's polished elegance overshadowing Sophia's forced sophistication.

Sophia's gaze held undisguised challenge. While she lacked the courage to confront Evelyn directly, her companion clearly didn't share that hesitation.

Evelyn arched an eyebrow. "Ms. Ashford, I didn't know you had an interest in sports cars."

Victoria's smile didn't reach her eyes. "Some things are worth acquiring on sight. Though it seems you've beaten me to it again."

"Not necessarily," Sophia interjected. "No payment means no ownership. First come doesn't always mean first served."

The salesman shifted uncomfortably. "That's correct... Ms. Sinclair hasn't completed the transaction."

Evelyn studied Victoria carefully. The unspoken hostility puzzled her - they'd never interacted beyond polite business functions.

"Would you really deny me this?" Victoria asked, her tone light but eyes sharp.

Isabella tensed beside Evelyn, sensing the undercurrents. But Evelyn merely smiled. "Of course not. If this catches your eye, by all means."

Victoria blinked, unprepared for such easy concession. The salesman jumped in. "The price is six million, madam."

Without hesitation, Victoria produced a black card. "Process it immediately."

Sophia clapped like an excited child. "Victoria, you're incredible! This car was made for you!"

Evelyn and Isabella exchanged glances. "We should continue our shopping," Evelyn said smoothly.

Victoria's lips curved. "Why not join us? The more the merrier."

Both women froze at the unexpected invitation. The tension thickened like fog in the showroom.
