Chapter 200
Sebastian Hart smirked to himself. It's just a piece of land. Consider it an engagement gift.
Evelyn Sinclair never expected Sebastian to throw money at her like this. A storm of conflicting emotions churned in her chest.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t afford the extra billion.
But corporate funds weren’t something she could move around so recklessly.
Sebastian’s bold move had cornered her. As Evelyn hesitated, Victoria Ashford scoffed.
"I didn’t realize New York’s business elite had such blurred lines between personal and professional affairs."
Her voice dripped with disdain. "Second Young Master Hart, are you really gambling your family’s fortune just to impress a woman?"
Victoria had crossed a line. Sebastian’s expression darkened, his gaze turning icy.
He ignored her completely, his attention fixed solely on Evelyn.
"As long as she’s happy," he said smoothly, "it’s worth every penny."
His words were deliberate, laced with challenge. "Even if I have to lose everything for her, I’d do it without hesitation."
Victoria’s face twisted. The humiliation burned.
Without another word, the proud businesswoman turned on her heel and stormed off, her composure shattered.
Sebastian Hart was utterly, shamelessly in love with Evelyn Sinclair.
Evelyn frowned. "Sebastian, this is reckless."
He just laughed. "I won’t let what you want fall into someone else’s hands."
Especially Nathan Blackwood’s.
Evelyn sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Bennett," she called to her assistant. "Transfer $49 billion to Hart Corporation immediately."
"Yes, ma’am."
She met Sebastian’s gaze. "The remaining billion will come from my personal account."
He’s not Lucas. I won’t take advantage of him.
Sebastian’s smirk vanished. "Evelyn, I don’t want your money."
"Then prepare to explain to your grandfather why you wasted $50 billion on a whim," she shot back, already walking away.
Sebastian paled at the thought.
Reginald Hart would skin him alive.
He hurried after her. "I did this for you!"
"Get lost," Evelyn said without looking back.
Blackwood Enterprises.
Nathan Blackwood’s expression was thunderous as Harrison delivered the report.
If Evelyn had won the bid fairly, he wouldn’t have been angry. He had even considered withdrawing—or proposing a three-way partnership.
But Sebastian Hart had swooped in and handed it to her like some grand romantic gesture.
What does that make me? Nathan thought bitterly. A cheap, calculating bastard in comparison?
Harrison stood silently, sensing the dangerous shift in the air.
Blackwood Enterprises had lost bids before. But never had Nathan looked this furious.
Second Young Master Hart really knows how to push his buttons.
"Sir," Harrison ventured carefully, "since the matter is already settled—"
Nathan cut him off. "Contact Reginald Hart. Tell him I’ll buy that land for $50 billion."
His tone left no room for negotiation. "Ask if he’s willing to sell."
Harrison blinked. This was a direct bypass of Sebastian.
Just how much does he despise the man?
Without delay, Harrison made the call, explaining the situation and Nathan’s offer.
To his surprise, Reginald Hart agreed within seconds.
"My grandson is impulsive. Pay him no mind."
The old man’s voice was firm. "I’ll have the land transferred to Blackwood Enterprises immediately."
Harrison exhaled in relief. "Thank you, Mr. Hart. We’ll send representatives to assist with the handover."
Within minutes, Evelyn received a call from Reginald Hart.
She listened, then laughed in disbelief.
Perfect. I didn’t want this mess anyway.
But one thought nagged at her. Since when is Nathan Blackwood this bold?
Without hesitation, she agreed to the arrangement. Business came first.
At $50 billion, the land was a financial sinkhole.
The deal was settled quietly, efficiently.
Sebastian Hart was the last to know.
