Chapter 132

Blackwood Corporation President's Office.

The silence was so profound you could hear the second hand ticking on the antique grandfather clock.

Nathan Blackwood drummed his fingers rhythmically against the mahogany desk, each tap making Harrison's shoulders tense further.

His piercing gaze darkened as he spoke in an icy tone. "She went to purchase property at our sales office?"

Harrison stood at attention. "Yes, sir. The sales team confirmed it personally. I've reviewed the security footage."

"Ms. Sinclair arrived with Ms. Montgomery. They're still there as we speak."

Nathan's stormy eyes narrowed. After a weighted pause, he rose abruptly. "Let's go see what this is about."

Though Nathan couldn't fathom Evelyn's motives, he needed to witness this bizarre situation firsthand.

"Right away, sir." Harrison nodded, already feeling the atmospheric shift around his boss.

Nathan's reactions where Evelyn was concerned always defied expectation.

The sales director was enthusiastically presenting luxury penthouse options. "Ms. Sinclair, does this floorplan suit your needs? Will you be residing here personally?"

Evelyn shook her head. "It's a gift actually. For a bachelor recently returned from overseas." She tapped the brochure decisively. "Replace any existing furnishings with Swiss imports - top quality only. Price is no object."

"My brother deserves nothing but the best."

"Yes, of course, miss-"

Nathan froze in the doorway, his entire body going rigid. 'She's buying property for some bachelor? That damned Sebastian Hart?' The scandalous headlines practically wrote themselves: [Evelyn Sinclair Purchases Blackwood Property to House New Lover - How Pathetic!]

(Honestly, this situation was almost comical. Only Evelyn could pull such a bold move. Maybe Mr. Blackwood should personally recommend properties for his ex-wife's new man!)

The paperwork was straightforward. Evelyn barely glanced at the contract - she'd chosen this unit for its rare combination of privacy and panoramic views.

If the interior didn't meet standards, she'd simply have it gutted and redesigned. Hardly an inconvenience.

After signing, she checked the time on her platinum Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. "I'll process payment now." As she reached for her clutch, sudden commotion erupted at the entrance.

The sales director immediately bowed. "Good afternoon, President Blackwood!"

Nathan approached Evelyn, his voice deceptively calm. "Made your selection?" He'd heard every damning word, yet still asked - a glutton for punishment.

Evelyn didn't turn at his voice, though she felt the heat of his stare burning between her shoulder blades.

The room's atmosphere turned arctic.

The sales director cleared his throat nervously. "Since President Blackwood is here personally, and you're... acquainted, we could extend our corporate discount-"

Evelyn's laugh was sharp as shattered glass. "We're not friends. Keep your discount."

Tension thickened to suffocating levels.

Finally, Evelyn turned to meet Nathan's stormy gaze head-on. "Does every client receive personal attention from the CEO? Or am I just... special?"

"You've always been special, Evelyn," Nathan murmured, his voice rough.

Her eyebrow arched. "Special how? Because I'm Sterling Corporation's CEO now? Is this VIP treatment?"

Nathan stepped closer, invading her space. "You're my ex-wife. That makes you different from anyone else."
